Captain America

I am a horrible blogger. Let’s just put that out there right now. It’s been over a month since I last posted.

Anyhoo, this post has a point. I saw it about 10 days ago. Two words.

Captain America.

Yep, that about sums it up. What can I say? I LOVED this movie!

Set in the 1940s, during WWII, it’s an instant win in my book. I’m not usually one to go for superhero movies, but I had to see this one (mostly on account of the era ;). Bright red lip stick, leather jackets, the dresses?! Who wouldn’t love it? :D

Captain America: The First Avenger Publicity Still

Open on Steve Rodgers (Chris Evans did an amazing job). Steve is determined, compassionate, and totally self-sacrificing–perfect superhero material. But he starts out as the computer generated “little guy”.

“Why someone weak? Because a weak man knows the value of strength, the value of power.”

Enter awesome German doctor with his procedure.

Turning little Steve Rogers into a “super-soldier”.

Same bighearted Steve, but no more little scrawny guy.

Cape? Not for this superhero, just a dirty leather jacket and a helmet.

But then he has to go and lose the jacket and helmet for this. What is that hat anyway? The helmet was a better look…

Then we have the sidekick, Bucky (Sebastian Stan)…

Colonel Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones)…

Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper), who’s apparently Iron Man’s dad…my brothers had to explain that bit to me (told you I was’t a superhero person). :P

And the loyal fighters.

We can’t forget the Steve and Peggy romance.

But–if you’ve seen it–there’s the sad scene. I loved that scene. *sniffs*

And that’s it! If you haven’t seen it, I highly suggest you do. :D

Today I woke up at 6am and took a shower then wasted time on the computer. At 7am I was picked up to babysit. I spent my morning building puzzles, making stickers, and teaching little girls the little bit of swing that I know. :D Then I came home and watched half of an episode of “Merlin” then took measurements of the chalkboard rectangle I painted on my wall so my dad could make a frame to cover the edges. I’m expecting that to turn out really neat. I officially love chalkboards. :D After that I was tired and my back was aching so I scrubbed the bathtub clean and took a nice long bath while reading my book. Now I’m making my dinner before I go babysit for another family this evening. Hoping to finish my book, “When You Reach Me”, after the kids go to sleep. :)

Outside my window…

It’s a cool and sunny morning.

I am listening to…

The birds chirping and a plane flying overhead.

I am wearing…

Denim shorts, a white t-shirt with a blue long sleeved light cotton shirt over it and black socks.

I am creating…

Photos.

I’m reading…

The Great Depression by Robert S. McElvaine

One of my favorite things…

Quiet early mornings.

A few plans for the rest of the week…

I think it’s pretty easy going the rest of the week…just school. I have the second to last session of my class is in half an hour and the last session is tomorrow.

A picture thought…

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” ~John 8:12

For a new post. I’ve written a few in the past couple of days but none of them satisfied me. :P Hopefully I’ll be able to write something I feel is worth posting…haha. For now, enjoy this picture of my friend’s belt. :D

I admit I’m not that great with intros, I always have the most trouble beginning my posts. But, I really do like writing (when I can write whatever I want. ;)…so it’s a wonder that I don’t post more often. So, with the ‘Tangled’ soundtrack playing and a cup of chai tea sitting on the desk, I begin…I’ll probably just end up running off on random tangents. Well then.

In the reading department, I’ve recently decided it was about time I read through all of the Anne books. I’ve previously read Anne of Green Gables andAnne of Avonlea, but I never got into Anne and Gilbert’s love story…how terrible I was to stop there! I just started Anne’s House of Dreams this morning. At this point I’d have to say that I think Anne of the Island is the best of them…and honestly, I’m predicting that it will stay on the top of my list. I also think that this cover best captures Anne how I imagine her, and I love Gilbert standing away in the distance….and they’re in a FIELD! I have a strange affection for fields…with a soft breeze sweeping through them. *sigh*

School is my current bane…it’s actually not that terrible, but I will have to be working through the summer. I’m pretty certain I’ll barely notice. What annoys me is the strange stare and awkward pause that I keep getting when I tell an adult, that doesn’t homeschool, that I have to work through the summer. I don’t think I’ll have too many, if any, more of those moments though…

Let’s see…it’s Sunday the 15th….I was supposed to be babysitting right now, but the mom called and canceled this morning. That certainly freed up my day. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…I really wish it weren’t so cold and dreary outside. I would go out and put my camera to use, but my fingers are getting cold just sitting here in the living room typing.

Have I ever mentioned how wonderful chai tea is? As one of my best friends put it, “It makes you feel all warm and happy inside.” And it’s even better when you drink it out of a green polka-dot mug. Polka-dots make everything better. :D So do chocolate milkshakes. And dresses. And blue or red retro bikes. My mom keeps telling me I should have lived in the ’50s…I almost agree. Note: diners are awesome. But I do love living in this era…I just wish I could go back to the ’50s for occasional visits…and to buy my clothes. ;) Speaking of clothes, fashion is one of my recent obsessions. To put it simply, I’ve been browsing far too many clothing websites and blogs. I’ve heard from the moms of a few friends that my friends are getting a little disappointed with searching for modest things. Honestly, I think it’s a boat load of fun to sift through all the junky stuff to find the things that are wearable…and layering is my friend. :D Now all I need is money…haha. One of my friends went shopping with me last week, her mom said anything she bought had to be ‘Leah approved’, I got a kick out of that. The next day my mom asked me if I ever expected to become a moral compass. ^_^

Yesterday my awesome big brother (one of them ;)) got home from college for the summer! He’s sitting on the couch with his laptop playing music right now. He’s only been home 26 hours and he already has me wanting to go on a zip-line…BEGIN SUMMER! :D And now I shall leave you to your Sunday afternoon, unless it’s not Sunday anymore when you read this, in which case I’ll leave you to your “__________ morning/afternoon/evening.” I’m out of chai………….
